What am I worth? A historical review of the social impact on identity. With the Women’s Group of B’kara
February 27 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am
Society has traditionally influenced identity. Both on a macro and micro level, society shapes the sense of self of the individual in many ways. This is observable in the accountability to a particular set of norms and values which comes with the notion of being Maltese (or any other country), thus sharing collective traits inherent in a particular culture which have been shaped through the ages. It is also observable as people grow up, receiving countless comments and prompts about themselves from parents, family members, school teachers and others in society that inevitably shape one’s identity. This talk underlines that this sense of worth is ultimately a social construct and may be changed with awareness. Senses of low self worth can be enhanced and attitudes can be changed.
Steve Libreri will be presenting this talk. Steve is a social worker and parent coach within Willingness. He offers parent coaching and social work sessions. He can be contacted on firstname.lastname@example.org.
