I am an Assistant Psychologist. I have a background in Clinical Psychology (Master of Science, M.Sc.) and I was trained in the Netherlands. I am currently working towards getting warranted.
I was born and raised in the Netherlands, and I have been in Malta since 2012. Before I moved to Malta I spent a lot of time working with children; in daycares, but also as part of Family Therapy. In Malta I continued working with children; from an educational point of view, as well as assessing ADHD and ASD.
I have a particular interest in Family Therapy, also referred to as Systemic Therapy, which is an approach that works with families and those who are in close relationships, dealing with their interactional patterns and dynamics. I believe that the system of a client can influence an individual in a positive, as well as in a negative way, and therefore is an important part of the therapy.
I also strongly believe in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. Clients suffering from depression, anxiety, low self-esteem or psychosomatic problems (headaches, tiredness, panick attacks) can benefit from CBT.
