Let Go of the Fear of Letting Go | Ngħidu Kelma

October 11, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Let Go of the Fear of Letting Go – can a Buddhist perspective help?

Nowadays we are expected to be flexible. We are under pressure to move fast, to change, to adapt. With this pressure comes also a tendency to stiffly hold on to our identities, lifestyles and routines. We live in a changing world, but we wish to control the changes. This need to have our lives under control can give us a fear of letting go. Sincethe world at times seem so chaotic and like it is changing rapidly, we tend to stay with things that are familiar to us, even when those things are not good for us or our environment. This understanding raises a question such as: how can I let go of this fear? How can we help our clients let go of this fear?

Several great minds of our time (from Einstein to Sen) have mentioned Buddhism as a beneficial source of worldview for the future societies. Several teachings of Buddha explain how our complicated world functions, and why we often have this need to be in control. This knowledge can be used to help us overcome challenges and difficulties in our lives. During this Nghidu Kelma Seminar we will focus on theoretical aspects behind the fear of letting go and looking into Buddhist teachings that can help one cope with the fear of letting go. We will also be delving into some practical ways on which to implement this in practice with our clients in the form of case studies.
