Yasmine Bonnici
Counsellor
Yasmine Bonnici obtained a degree in nursing (Hons) and a Master’s in Counselling (Melit). She was drawn to counselling because she felt that there is a tendency to focus on one’s physical needs and neglect the psychological aspect. This led her to achieve her temporary warrant in counselling.
She has worked with children, where she dealt mainly with separation anxiety and self-esteem issues with Victim Support Malta. This allowed her to work with victims of domestic violence and cybercrime, and she has recently also started working on suicide prevention. Yasmine has furthered her studies by taking on short courses on Advanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Behavioural Therapy. These enable her to keep up with current literature.
Yasmine prefers using an eclectic approach to counselling because she believes that the modality of therapy highly depends on the presenting issue. Her interests are working with trauma and identity issues in the family unit.
