Regulating Emotion the DBT way Workshop

This workshop is presented by Dr Christine Dunkley, author of the book, Regulating Emotion the DBT Way, Routledge 2020.

Steeped in the theories of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, the content expands on Marsha Linehan‘s work.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will learn how to help clients increase or decrease an emotion under their conscious control.

Many client behaviours, suicidality, self-harm, addictions, eating problems and avoidance, are an attempt to relieve emotional pain.

Clients can gain mastery over their bodily sensations by understanding the function of each emotion

The evolutionary mechanisms by which it is maintained, and the influences that change its intensity. They can then learn how each emotion is trying to help them and choose the level of response they need to be effective.

No prior knowledge of DBT is required. Anyone familiar with DBT will gain a deeper understanding of how this works in practice by watching demonstrations and hearing Dr Dunkley’s characteristic, ‘Top Tips.’

The workshop includes:

  1. A 6.5-hour CPD Training with Dr Christine Dunkley
  2. Live demonstrations where attendees are invited to act as the client
  3. Networking standing breakfast
  4. Coffee breaks
  5. Lunch
