What is Psychology?
Psychology is the scientific study of people’s behaviours, thoughts and emotions. It can be applied into practice and observed in the daily lives of people. The way people interact with each other, the way they view themselves and the world all can be explained through psychology. We do what we do, and are who we are, because of what we’ve been through.
When you present with a particular issue, the role of the psychologist is to try and make sense of what that experience means to you. Our psychologist tries to understand the client’s thoughts, emotions and behaviour, how these relate together and where they derive from. The next step is to support you in dealing with their situations by communicating such insights with you and discuss what comes next for you. This is done through the therapeutic relationship built between you and the psychologist.
Psychologists are also qualified to carry out assessments related to personality, mental health disorders and other disabilities.
