Dr Marilyn Muscat has trained as an Educational and Child Psychologist in London. She is registered as an Educational Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council in the United Kingdom and with the Malta Psychology Profession Board in Malta. Marilyn obtained her first degree in Psychology from the University of Malta. Two years later she enrolled once again at the University of Malta where she obtained her teaching qualification in Personal and Social Development. Marilyn has always enjoyed working with children, adolescents and their families, thus she wanted to pursue her studies even further. She moved to London in 2014 where she started reading for a Doctorate in Educational and Child Psychology with the University of East London.
Marilyn has been working in the Education sector since 2010. She worked in several schools as a teacher and more recently by providing psychology services. Marilyn works with students of different ages, from early years to young adulthood. Giving her clients a voice is important to Marilyn as she believes that no matter the age a person deserves to make their needs and wishes heard. Through her work, she hopes to be able to provide a space for parents to discuss strengths and concerns about their child and to work together to help their child achieve their true potential. When she works with children Marilyn hopes to create an equal relationship with them so that they feel comfortable to be themselves and to be able to grow psychologically.
Marilyn also has experience working in the field of addiction. She worked in a drug rehabilitation residential setting for adults, whilst also doing outreach work by providing individual sessions to support clients with drug addiction.
Marilyn is passionate about travelling as she likes to explore new countries and to immerse herself in different cultures. She also enjoys practising sports and swimming in summer.
