2020 was an interesting year which posed many challenges for us and our communities. Challenges fuel our personal resilience as human beings to develop different methods of survival and adaptation to the ever-changing ways of life. As human beings the need to control our environment and create predictable outcomes for ourselves is intricately intertwined in our nature. The unpredictability of this year made most of us panic and experience negative psychological and physical symptoms ranging from anxiety to psychosomatic symptoms. One current theme which has persisted throughout 2020 is that despite what is occurring around us as individuals, we have the ability to choose how we want to react to a specific situation.
Despite the fact that the corona virus is still a persisting health issue, we somehow adapted and made the necessary changes in our lives in order to manage working and living amidst a global pandemic. Taking stock of the vital lessons which we learnt how to deal with this pandemic in which specific routines and rituals were implemented in order to survive is crucial for us to get through the next couple of months. The next couple of questions are aimed to help the individual reflect about what rituals or routines are implemented or perhaps could be implemented to help an individual pull through the next couple of months:
- Physical
What activities help you connect to the physical world (i.e the world around us)?-
What activities help you give back to the physical world?
- Social
What activities help you connect to your friends or social circles despite the fact that social distancing measures are in place?
- Personal
What activities help you connect with yourself in increased times of isolation?
- Spiritual
What personal belief systems help you connect with the world and make sense of the world we live in.
