Does discipline ever feel like you are fighting for control? It may be hard to believe that children can be powerful enough to shake most of us. Even though we do our best to find all the assertiveness within our personality to say NO, our children can display a defying power which is hard to match. I hope that this blog serves first to help you realise that you are not alone. Children are truly strong personalities in some respects and it is hard for many parents to assert certain decisions on their children. It is much more common than we all think.
However, I wish for this blog to be a text to help parents reflect. I hope to help parents think about the emotional undercurrents that occur within them during interventions of discipline. I hope to help parents reflect about their attitudes towards challenges with children. As I said this is not rare. Many parents are familiar with the feeling of helplessness when they try to discipline their children. The faces of puzzlement and frustration are common in many who have caring responsibilities. My words here are simple, but not because the challenge is not real or silly, but because I aim to give parents a real idea to nurture, easy to grasp and easy to understand. I hope that with it, they can become more effective with their children.
