As we are celebrating the 10th year anniversary of Willingness, I found myself looking back onto my own journey within the team. I remember the first qualities that had attracted me to apply for the role of a Family Therapist within the team. It was the team’s creativity, passion, approachability and the multidisciplinary approach to the work carried out by the team in fighting mental health stigma that had drawn me to joining this team. In this blog I will be sharing three aspects I have come to cherish from my journey with Willingness.

  1. Opportunities to grow and to contribute to other people’s growth

Throughout my experience at Willingness, I have been provided with countless opportunities to learn and grow as a professional. Whether through receiving in-house trainings, attending conferences, participating in our ongoing multidisciplinary case reviews, or simply having a discussion or debate with a colleague; there is always an opportunity to learn. Same as with the opportunities to learn, Willingness has also provided me with countless opportunities to share my own learning and experience with others. Being on the media, writing blogs, giving training to colleagues, presenting in workshops and conferences are only few of the many platforms where Willingness has given me a voice as a professional and taught me about my own responsibility as a professional to contribute to the training and growth of others.

2. A strong support network

Viewing the team as a strong support network has been something that I have relied on when moving out of my comfort zone and learning something new. For instance, public speaking was definitely a growing edge for me as a professional and something that I considered as being out of my comfort zone. However, through the supportive relationships in the Willingness Team, I was provided with the encouragement and the space to develop skills that facilitated this growth for me.

3. Doing what I am passionate about

I consider myself lucky to have the opportunity work in a context where I can do the things that l am passionate about and to stand for the things that I value. I cannot write about my journey with Willingness so far without mentioning our clients, who continue to shape and influence who I am as a professional. Thank you for trusting us.
