In an increasingly connected society where people are always ready to interact digitally, the pacing of emotional intimacy has to be constantly tweaked. Dating apps facilitate rapid connection and constant communication, however they have disillusioned us from raw and intimate connections with each other. Has Tinder replaced, or is it on its way to replace the traditional way of connecting with people romantically?
An open discussion was held at the University of Malta on ‘Sex Catalogue: Tinderization & Sex’. During this discussion, participants were able to take a step back and visualize the time before Tinder, and break down the positive and negative aspects of dating apps. Several questions were raised, including: Has Tinder facilitated sex? Has it broken values, or broken taboos? The key speakers were Mr. Clayton Mercieca, Community Manager at Allied Rainbow Communities, and Mr. Matthew Bartolo from Willingness.
