You may have heard about the term parent coaching. It is now a bit of a buzz word in the world of parenting. But how many of us understand clearly what this parent coaching is? I would like to invest some time to try and give you this information.
Essentially parent coaching is a form of intervention that can be used to help parents acquire better skills as parents. It happens on a one-to-one basis, where the coach immerses himself or herself into the world of the parents. It is not an intervention to fix children, nor is it there to criticize parents.
Parent coaching is simply about helping people achieve a better sense of their parenting styles. Obviously an integral part of parent coaching must include guidance for the parents to adopt more positive and effective ways to bring up their children. It is not to admonish parents; it is to encourage them and teach them manners which have been shown to be affective. It is a relationship with a professional who cares, and is committed to help you discover new ways on how you can live with your children.
