This is Pamela Borg, who's just one of many professionals at Willingness Malta.

My experience as a professional at Willingness

My name is Pamela and I have been working at Willingness for the past three years. My role at Willingness is that of a counsellor, where I work therapeutically with individuals and couples experiencing various issues in areas related to mental health, gender and sexuality, relationship difficulties and adjusting to life transitions. This is a very enriching aspect of my job as I truly enjoy supporting clients to grow in their self-awareness and live their most fulfilling, authentic lives. I really believe that counselling can help people unlock their potential and explore the inner resources required to be able to bring about change and better one’s life. In my work with clients, I enjoy using a person-centred and collaborative way to be able to support my clients reach their goals for therapy.

My Contributions Within The Willingness Family

My role at Willingness involves more than solely offering counselling sessions to my clients. Once monthly, I get the opportunity to meet the rest of the team at our team meeting. Here, we often get training on diverse topics that can support us to continue delivering a service of excellence to our clients. During these meetings, we also discuss client cases in order to get some feedback about our work and learn from one another. This is something I really appreciate about working with Willingness, because it is a space where a multidisciplinary team of professionals all collaborate with one another to support each other and our clients in the best way possible.

Other Aspects And Roles That Comprise What I’m Doing At Willingness

Part of my role also involves writing blogs about various topics, which are then published on the Willingness website. These blogs are an opportunity for me to read up on subjects that are of interest to myself, and then to write about them in order to educate and inform those currently going through such issues, or wanting to expand their knowledge about the subject. I find that I am generally interested in topics related to sex and relationships. This is an area that I am really passionate about, and so I really enjoy reading and writing about it!

Life At Willingness During The Summer Months For Me

During the summer months, I get to do something totally different in relation to my role at Willingness. I participate in a service called Chat Bar, which is a safe space for festival goers with the aim of helping individuals cope with any emotional difficulties that may come up during the festival experience. I love this part of my job because I am an avid festival goer myself, and I love meeting new people outside of the counselling room.

Benefits I’ve Received From Willingness And The Opportunities It Gave Me

Working with Willingness gives me the opportunity to work in private practice, while also forming part of a team of like-minded people who support each other to continue growing as professionals. I like the flexibility of seeing clients according to my own schedule, and I love working in a beautiful and well-kept space which makes for a very welcoming place to work with my clients.

Conclusion

Last but definitely not least, I love my work as a counsellor with Willingness because it allows me to be a part of my clients’ journeys in developing their self-awareness and enhancing their quality of life. I am constantly learning from my clients who teach me so much through my therapeutic work with them.
