As part of the 360° conferences which were launched in 2014, a ‘Gender and sexuality diversity’ conference was organized. During this conference, professionals had the opportunity to discuss and disseminate information regarding the LGBTI+ Community, including relationships, sexuality, gender, family and other related topics, using the 360° multidisciplinary approach. Furthermore, professionals had the opportunity to encourage diversity in both knowledge and skill, while gathering a deeper appreciation of other disciplines and the potential advantages in allowing professionals to accommodate larger functional understanding of material and integrated knowledge, instead of working behind isolated perspectives.
A number of speakers held concurrent workshops were each workshop delved into different topics which included; Social work practice with gender variant and transgender children and young people; grey gride; chemsex – the cocktail of drugs and sex in the LGBT community; intimate partner violence in same- sex relationships; addressing the cancer care needs of the LGBTIQ community and many other interesting topics. As an endnote of the conference, Ms. Gabi Calleja who highlighted the major milestones in the history of the gay rights movement in Malta.
