Motherhood changes us. From the feeling of the baby’s first kick while still pregnant to the sleepless nights during the first months, our routines change, our priorities change and our life perspective changes…

So how do we survive our first months of motherhood?
• Get out and make connections: House work can wait…what can help keep you sane during this time is going out and forging time out for you and the baby. Go to the play group, playground, out for a coffee with a friend. The fact that you have a shower, dress up, prepare the baby and get out of the house can already put you in a better mood.
• Accept any help you can get: Bringing someone in every fortnight or so to clean and help around the house can help. Do not expect to have pristine windows all year round…focus on good meals and clean clothes for your family…all the rest will fall into place.
• Rope your partner in: It is important that the baby has a good relationship with your partner as well. So involve them in their care. More importantly, find time every week for yourself and your relationship…

Let the experience of motherhood open you up to a new world…
