A Parentopedia workshop was held on the topic ‘Discipline’. Discipline is a term that many are not always very comfortable with. Whatever the child’s age, it is important to be consistent when it comes to discipline. Many times the perception towards discipline is a negative one. Furthermore, containing and guiding our kids’ behaviour is definitely one of the greatest challenges as parents or carers. Discipline can never be explored in isolation and only makes sense when it is part of care, affection and responsibility.

This workshop reflected on questions like: ‘Do terms like ‘positive discipline’ make sense? When is it too much or when is it lacking?’ Participants also had the opportunity to share ideas together and discover what recent research suggests on discipline. The main speaker for this event was Mr. David Schembri, Social Worker and Play Therapist. He has managed a residential foster home for kids and youths for the past 15 years. David is also a tutor in Positive Handling Techniques.
